Sunview Installs Digital Mammography Unit at Coast General Hospital
Sunview Medipro has successfully installed a modern digital mammography unit at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, marking a significant step in strengthening breast cancer screening services at the facility.
The newly installed system delivers high-resolution imaging, low-dose radiation, AI-assisted detection, and patient-friendly compression, supported by a faster and more efficient workflow to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient experience.

Training and Capacity Building
To support seamless adoption, user training is currently underway for radiographers and radiologists, focusing on optimal system use, accurate diagnosis, and improved quality of care.

Complete Mammography Setup
The installation includes a complete setup comprising the mammography machine, acquisition console, medical-grade printer, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to ensure reliability and continuity of services.
Improved Local Access
Previously, the hospital’s mammography unit had been non-functional, forcing patients to seek screening services in distant counties such as Nairobi or at private facilities, often at a higher cost.
The new system now restores these critical services locally and is expected to screen up to 10 patients daily.

Early Detection Saves Lives
Mammography plays a vital role in the early detection of breast abnormalities, including cancer, significantly improving treatment outcomes.
Routine screening is particularly recommended for women over the age of 35 and those with a family history of breast cancer.
SHA Coverage
Mammography services are covered under the Social Health Authority (SHA), improving access to screening services for more patients across the region.
